About This Spot

Stepping into Tacos El Don on Bells Ferry Road feels like finding a comforting pause in the rhythm of everyday life—a casual local eatery where the hum of friendly chatter blends with the warm scents of fresh spices and slow-cooked meats. The atmosphere moves at an easy pace, inviting everyone from families seeking familiar flavors to first-timers eager for an authentic taste of Mexican home cooking.

There’s an unpretentious charm here, grounded in honest food crafted with care. The kitchen’s offerings strike a balance between vibrant and comforting—a place where the bright, citrus-kissed brightness of carne asada tacos meets the soothing warmth of a bowl of caldo de res. The tortillas arrive soft and fragrant, and the careful touches—fresh cilantro, a squeeze of lime, a hint of real melted cheese—make each bite feel thoughtfully assembled rather than hurried.

While the salsa bar that once was a centerpiece has quietly given way to a more focused service, this only deepens the sense of personal attention paid to each order. Staff move with friendly efficiency, helping guests navigate the menu with ease and welcoming everyone like neighbors rather than customers.

Whether you find yourself savoring the subtle layers of a chicken taco salad or diving into a plate where shrimp and carne asada share the spotlight, the experience remains quietly joyful and refreshingly genuine. It’s a space where the familiar meets discovery—each meal bringing a bit of Mexico’s heart to Acworth, practiced with a home-cooked hand and a warmth that feels effortlessly local.

Amazing authentic Mexican food! If you are in this area you have to eat here. Nachos are a secret menu item and they are the best I have ever had. They have great prices and a salsa bar. I really like and recommend the steak tacos with cilantro, onions, and lime. Update:7/3/22 some things that have changed are they no longer have the salsa bar. They took it away during covid but I think it's gone for good. I really miss that. Also the Tacos are much smaller now. I would rather pay a little more for regular size tacos than them keep their original pricing and now have tiny tacos. Still great food and great flavor just have to order more tacos.

The food tastes fresh/authentic and the service is quick! Affordable also. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area.

Unfortunately I have rate this type because the food need a little more attention. Taste good but it was little overcooked. I have to be clear about it... only the meat was like that. The plate come with shrimp and vegetables and was great. Only the little steak piece. The service was great helping to get a good meal. Restaurant clean and friendly staff. Will come back again. Thanks a lot.

Real Mexican Food! Finally, I found some real Mexican food in Georgia! El Don you, the amazing cooks in the kitchen and those wonderful ladies at the front are all amazing! Woodstock is lucky to have you. The al pastor pork was delicious with the right authentic spices and flavors. They use real cheese and real sauces with actual flavor! The wet burritos were beyond the norm, they are it, they are everything good rolled into a tortilla!!!. They do it right here, no skimping, no waxy nasty queso on everything, which is not authentic. The refried beans are made fresh and burst with the right flavor and texture. You will not find the typical out of a can Georgia fake mexican food here. At El Don, the refried beans melt in your mouth and leave you wanting more. The rice is even perfection, yes even the rice which happens to be a big deal for me, boom it's on point. The barbacoa beef tacos are sublime, tender braised beef in Mexican spices made into a taco with cilantro and onions, and you will crave these tacos again and again. The chips and salsa were also delicious. Bottom line, these folks know how to make authentic delicious Mexican Food, and they go above and beyond doing what they love, you can taste the love!

Clean, fresh salsa bar kept very cold, and the best real mexican food around, at great prices. I've become a weekly patron, at least. They also have bottled Coca-Cola, made with cane sugar, no HFC. Everything they make is fresh and super tasty with quality ingredients. Lots of take out orders. This is where those who know what real Mexican food is, go around here. No frills, just excellent food at a good price

A good amount of delicious variation of dishes. The drinks (Aguas frescas ????????) are on point as well! My go to: either 2 chicken tacos w/ a sope w/ everything or chicken combo w/ salad, r & b! The ladies are always kind too!

Menudo is a very nostalgic meal for me that I only could get once to twice a year when visiting my grandma. I finally found a place that serves amazing Menudo! It's worth trying if you have never ate menudo! Bring your own hominy if you like it with hominy. Agua Fresca's are jamaica, horchata y something else I can't remember.
